Replace the disposal if: it’s more than 8–10 years old, it leaks from the body (not just the mounting or drain connection), the motor hums but the plate won’t turn even after resetting and unjamming, or repairs would cost more than 50% of a new unit. Repair is worth it for: recent jams, a tripped reset, or a loose drain connection. We’ll make the honest call when we inspect it.
